Before contacting any participants for research you should compile a research plan that covers the aims of the research. Some would say you should also read the relevant previous research and literature so read what they suggest.

Going through the process will enable you to reflect on what is the ultimate core question that you have and how to best approach answering it. Trust that there is a way to address your core question because if you don't then you are not doing research but philosophy. Philosophy can help you clarify your questions first.

For research that you have never done before or is in a new context use the "Full-stack Research Plan" which asks for more detail.

For a replication study use the "Low-res Research Plan" can be used for situations where you are doing the same type of research as you have done before or others have done before you so there is no methodological issues that need to be decided on.
